meet the cast of flcl... as i see them anyways.. and i don't claim to know what im talking about at any point in time.. ever.
nandaba naota - the main character of the story... or maybe not-so-main. approximately 13 years old, naota lives in mabase with his father, kamon, and his grandfather, sigekuni. one day he hets hit by a girl on a vespa, and weird things start happening to him. he carries a baseball bat around with him all the time, but when up to bat, he never swings.
haruhara haruko - haruko comes to mabase one day on a mission to find someone medical mechanica 'stole' from her. she claims to be 19 years old, but its never stated how old she really is. she runs over naota with her vespa (repeatedly) and hits him in the head with her gas-powered rickenbacker bass (also.. repeatedly). all of this triggers a reaction in naota that causes robots to emerge from a dimentional portal in his head..
samejima mamimi - naota's brothers (ex?) girlfriend, with tasuku gone, she has latched onto naota. with haruko's arrival, mamimi spends most of her time down by the river, with ta-kun. ta-kun is... whatever mamimi wants it to be. a cat, naota, or a terminal core. mamimi smokes a lot, and plays too many videogames.
nandaba kamon - naota's pervert father. a would-be editor. runs a bakery. wants haruko in a bad bad way. he married into the nandaba family. its a very uncommon practice in japan for a man to take his wife's name... but then again... kamon is a very uncommon person. kamon was also run over by haruko's vespa, and haruko attempted to use his head as a dimensional portal as well.. but his head wasn't compatible.
nandaba sigekuni - naota's grandfather, and kamon's father in law. he owns the family bakery that kamon manages. he coaches a baseball team that naota and kanti are on. it was a losing team for a long long time...
ninamori eri - daughter of the mayor of mabase is naota's classmate, ninamori. she is the class president. her parents are going through a very nasty (and public) divorce, and she is having a hard time of it. it seems her head is capable of a dimensional portal as well..
amarao - eyebrows. has no eyebrows. overcompensates for having no eyebrows. really, really overcompensates. amarao is an agent of the bureau of interstellar immigration. he knows haruko previous to seeing her in mabase.
kanti/kanchi - the first robot that came out of naota's head. kamon and sigekuni use him as a maid and a go-to guy. they try and pass him off as a tv and call him tv-boy. i think kanti actually holds the power of atomsk inside him, and that it is heightened when he and naota combine their efforts.
kitsurubami - kitsurubami is one of amarao's agents of the bureau of interstellar immigration. she uses large guns at long range to take out her enemies. kitsurubami likes to be thought of, or likes to think of herself as a very trendy girl.
manabe gaku - he is in the same grade and class as naota and is a friend of ninamori and naota. he is most often seen driving around with masashi and ninamori in mashashi's truck. the three of them call mamimi naota's 'wife'
masamune masashi - naota's other classmate and friend. masashi is rarely seen without gaku. drives a delivery truck as a job, even though he is only approximately 12 years old.
junko miyaji - naota's teacher, who seems to be having a string of bad luck. she drives a new vw beetle, and doesnt know how to use chopsticks properly. one wonders how she became a teacher at all...
